Review:
Marqués de Murrieta is an excellent, harmonious wine that has a fragrant, feminine nose, of nicely refined fruit with floral notes and subtle oak, and a very juicy, rich palate. It constantly exemplifies Rioja’s finest quality and is the wine which best defines this historic winery’s style: elegance, balance and uniformity.

As the house produces more of this wine than any other, the Murrieta Reserva constitutes a great challenge for the winemaker, since much skill and accuracy is required year after year in managing to combine the different altitudes, soils and grapes of the exceptional Ygay estate. Made using the classic Rioja blend, primarily based on Tempranillo (93%), Murrieta Reserva includes a small but significant percentage of Mazuelo (4%) which very pleasantly highlights the overall freshness. It’s a wine which embodies the bodega’s past and present, and unites tradition and modernity: American oak for those long months of ageing, 8 of which are spent in new barrels.

NOTE: We recommend decanting half an hour before serving.
